If your weekend wasn’t long enough either, I’m here to distract you with things to spend your hard-earned money on. Today, some of the best deals I could find on Amazon were for smart devices and tech gadgets that will make your life a little easier. If you’ve ever wanted an Alexa-enabled robot vacuum or a smart sprinkler system, today might be a great time to take action. If you’re looking to spend a little less than that, the smart plug, dash cams, and car chargers are all in that golden price range and also all super useful.
1. One of our favorite smart plugs is under $25
Even if you have no interest in a smart home lifestyle, smart plugs can still be insanely useful in your home. Have you ever left your coffee pot or a flat iron on when you left for work? If it was plugged in to a smart outlet, you could just tap a few buttons on your phone and shut it off no matter where you are. TP-Link makes one of our favorite smart plugs. It’s easy to use, lets you monitor your energy consumption, works with Alexa and Google Assistant, and even has an option to create an automated schedule.
2. A smart robot vacuum for a crazy low price
Robot vacuums are the kind of technology I thought would be delegated to bad sci-fi made-for-TV movies. But they really exist! Not only that, but they’re pretty affordable these days. Take the Ecovacs Deebot N79S. It’s got WiFi connectivity and it works with Alexa, so you can start a cleaning cycle from your phone or with a simple voice command.
And it’s only $198 right now thanks to a $50 coupon, making it the best price for a smart robot vacuum you’ll find. We tested the N79S’s predecessor, the N79, and it performed well enough to earn our Editors’ Choice award. However, it did take longer than average to complete a cleaning cycle.
3. Discounted dash cams for dutiful drivers
The ROAV C1 (left) and C2 (right) dash cams can make a huge difference if you ever get into a fender bender.
If you’ve ever been in a fender bender or worse, you know how hard it can be to remember every detail and how much harder it is for everyone involved to have the same experience of what happened. Rather than argue about whose fault it was, if you’d had a dash cam, you could just watch the footage. Right now, Anker’s car gadget brand, ROAV, has discounts on two dash cams.
Both dash cams record in 1080p HD, feature a wide-angle lens to capture four lanes of traffic, work in extreme temperatures, and automatically start recording if an impact is detected. The C1 also has built-in WiFi, so you can quickly transfer footage to the app on your phone for easy playback. If you don’t think you’ll need that much immediacy, you can save a few bucks and opt for the C2.
4. A smart sprinkler sale just in time for gardening season
If you love gardening but have trouble remembering when to water your plants, a smart sprinkler system might be the perfect springtime investment. This smart tech makes it easy to tend your flowers, herbs, and veggies with WiFi connectivity, app control, and Alexa connectivity.
It also monitors local weather alerts and makes adjustments to your watering schedule (which you can build custom to your garden). You can even give it details about your location, your vegetation, and how much sun your yard gets to get custom recommendations for watering schedules.
5. Car chargers for drivers and passengers
Having a charger in your car is always convenient… until your passenger needs to juice up their phone and yours is almost dead, but you gotta be polite and let them charge first. Unless you have a charger with multiple ports so everyone can charge up at once.
Anker’s got two options on sale today that will solve this problem, and both feature Quick Charge technology so you can get more of a boost even if you’ve got a short drive. The ROAV charger not only lets you charge two devices, but it features an app that lets you monitor your car battery. The Anker option is great because it’s very small and low profile, but also has a light-up ribbon around the outside so you know when it’s working.
