Samsung Galaxy Note 9 details leaked

Samsung Galaxy Note 9 details leaked

Samsung has been slightly embarrassed this week by a leak of details of the new Galaxy Note 9, but the device has been given a very positive reception by industry experts.

The information has come from a source in China, given the codename Ice Universe, who is widely trusted, due to his (or her) evident inside knowledge of Samsung products and impeccable track record.

As a result, it is highly likely the details released are indeed just what the world will see officially when the new device is launched, probably in August or September.

Indeed, while Samsung may be less than delighted about the leak – although to publicly admit as much would be to confirm the story – it appears to be Apple that has the most to worry about.

The consensus is that the specifications of the latest Samsung will knock the iPhone X off its perch, with a range of very fine features.

A notable element is the storage, with no less than 512GB, while the 8GB of RAM will ensure everything happens at super-fast speeds.

The one caveat is that this will be the top end version of the Samsung 9, according to Ice Universe. The base model will have 64GB of storage and 6GB of RAM. This will still make for a formidable product, however, not to mention a rather more affordable one than the supercharged version.

Other features include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 CPU for use in the US and an Exynos 9810 for British users, while owners can expect a microSD slot that can accomodate 2TB cards.

It should also have a dual camera, but the insider did not reveal – or did not know – whether it has a variable aperture like the Galaxy S9 Plus. It is also not clear if there will be an in-screen fingerprint sensor, although apparently this is no longer likely.

Of course, all will be formally revealed in due course. But buyers will certainly be watching carefully for the launch, not least if they are wondering whether or not to buy an iPhone X.
